This course sets you up as an independent sailor, in charge of your own boat. The course takes place under the careful and expert tuition of Eddie English and the SailCork instructors in the safe and sheltered water of East Ferry.

| Objective | By the end of the course you will have a basic knowledge and be capable of safely sailing a dinghy in light winds. |
| Location | SailCork's base at East Ferry Marina near Cobh town in Cork Harbour, with sheltered and safe waters suitable for sailing in all weather. Full facilities including a chartroom for briefings, changing rooms and easy access to the water for dinghies. |
| Equipment Included | Boat. Buoyancy aid. Wetsuit available for hire if required at cost to be processed through office prior to course. |
| What to bring | Warm clothes, waterproofs, change of clothes, towel and packed lunch and drinks. |
| Meals | Bring a packed lunch, snacks and drinks for day. |
| Syllabus | Rigging, launching, sailing in all directions. Capsize recovery and essential safety knowledge. |
| Pre Course | Sailing skills and knowledge to the level of Start Sailing Level 1. |
