The whole process of becoming an instructor begins with the pre-entry course and at SailCork we run special courses to ensure you are up to the standard required and full prepared so you can get the best from your instructor course. The course prepares you afloat and ashore for the pre-entry assessment and also for the instructor course. The assessment ensures that you have the pre-requisite skills and knowledge necessary to teach up to Improving Skills of the National Dinghy Scheme ashore + afloat.

Objective Achieve the ISA Pre-Dinghy Instructor Course standard.
Location SailCork's base at East Ferry in Cork Harbour. Full facilities including a chartroom for briefings, changing rooms and easy access to the water for dinghies. We offer transport from Cobh train station for a small fee. We also offer a great package of accommodation, meals and transport.
What to bring Your personal sailing gear, suitable for dinghy sailing in all conditions. Buoyancy aid. Notebook and pen. Whistle and knife. Books including RYA Dinghy Instructor Handbook G14, RYA Dinghy Sailing Advanced Handbook G12, RYA Start Sailing G3, Up to date Personal Logbook (ISA Dinghy Logbook or RYA equivalent). Syllabus Short course plus assessment. PART 1 - SKILLS: Sail around a triangular course, Sail a triangular course without a rudder, Sail a tight circular course, Sail a follow my leader course, Pick up a Man-Overboard, Lee-shore landing and departure, Anchor & pick up a mooring, Come alongside, Recover a capsized dinghy and sail away, Reducing sail while underway. PART 2 - BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE: Sail & mast controls, Compass, Chart symbols, Tides, Collision Regulations, Weather, Ropework.
