Join Yachtmaster Instructor Eddie English for a choice of online classe- how to understand the forecast and use it at sea or for daily life. These sessions are interactive – with plenty of time to ask your questions.

Choose – BASIC – a basic understanding of how we have our weather and where to get the best forecasts and an understanding of same. Understand the basics of HIGHS and LOWS and some of our weather features such as FOG and SEA BREEZES. Suitable for those who enjoy the outdoors ashore, in the water or on the water!

IMPROVER – indepth weather tuition.Understanding our weather systems – and why we get them. Learn about the influence of the jet stream, blocking highs and our Atlantic lows. We cover sea breezes, fog, passage of frontal systems, convergance and lots more. We investigate several weather forecast sites. Once you understand what causes our weather it is far easier to understand the weather forecast.By knowing the forecast it enables us to plan more accurately and be much safer at sea.

Length of Course 1 evening via Zoom 19:30-21:45. Basic is one evening and Improver is one evening.
Objective In Ireland we have a fairly unique climate. We are on the edge of Europe and the edge of the Atlantic. Weather systems - especially lows move in from the Atlantic. Most of our weather comes from the west - the Atlantic. We need to understand Atlantic Weather Systems and the more elusive High Pressure Systems. With an understanding of what causes our weather we should be able to read and understand the weather forecast - enabling to plan ahead and be safer at sea.
Location Online class using Zoom. You must have a personal Zoom account which is free to set up on www.zoom.us. A work or sports org account will NOT do.
