The course prepares you afloat and ashore for the pre-entry assessment and also for the instructor course. The assessment ensures that you have the pre-requisite skills and knowledge necessary to teach up to National Powerboat Certificate

Objective | Achieve the ISA Pre-Powerboat Instructor Course standard. Demonstrate competency in operation and background knowledge of planing powerboats, both console and tiller outboards |
Location | SailCork's base at East Ferry in Cork Harbour. Full facilities including a chartroom for briefings, changing rooms, easy access to the water for dinghies and marina for larger boats. |
What to bring | Your personal powerboating gear, suitable for powerboating in all conditions. Buoyancy aid or lifejacket. Notebook and pen. Whistle and knife. Powerboat logbook |
Meals | Bring a packed lunch as well as snack and drink for mid morning. |
Syllabus | Short course plus assessment. PART 1 - SKILLS: Prepare boat for use, Launch & Recovery, Start/Stop Engine, Low Speed Manoeuvres, Turn in Confined Space, Holding Off, Pick up Mooring, Man Overboard, Coming Alongside, High Speed Manoeuvres, Anchoring. PART 2 - BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE: Basic Engine Fault Finding, Compass, Chart Symbols, Tides, Collision Regulations, Weather, Ropework. |
