Beginning on Thurs evening Oct 27th for 16 weekly classes from your own home, The RYA Yachtmaster navigation online course is advanced and covers both Northern and Southern hemispheres. You must have completed the Day Skipper shorebased or submit proof of experience of navigation at sea.
Eddie English and the SailCork team will deliver the RYA Yachtmaster Shorebased Navigation course in a blended format. The syllabus will be taught online using a mix of videos, presentations and interactive tutorials on Zoom. We will use Google Classroom to deliver and monitor course material. We will also run 3 classroom tutorials to help you with the more difficult aspects of the course. Tutorials will streamed live for those who can’t attend. This is an online course with great customer care !
Suits : Skippers and boat owners with plenty of experience in navigation at sea, those working commercially in boating , Instructors in the marine field, anyone studying or working in the nautical area.
Course director Eddie English is an ISA/RYA Yachtmaster Examiner. Eddie’s reputation is recognised worldwide having sailed in Europe, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, the USA, Australia and the Pacific. Edddie is supported by Yachtmaster Instructor and Senior Powerboat Instructor,Peter Scallan and Captain Anthony Mulcahy.

Length of Course | 14 evening classes 19:30-22:15 + 2 classes face to face full day Sat Dec 10th RCYC Crosshaven. Classes will be recorded so don't worry if you miss one. |
Objective | This course equips you to navigate safely on coastal and offshore passages. It allows some time for revision of the basics and then moves on to advanced navigation techniques. The course will take your theory knowledge to the standard required for the Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore practical exams, concentrating on advanced navigation and meteorology skills. |
Location | Online weekly using Zoom. Live technical support from SailCork team to help you set up Zoom and Google classroom. |
Equipment Included | RYA pack containing exercise book, course notes book and practice charts. |
What to bring | A4 Notebook + folder, pens, highlighter, 2B pencils, eraser, sharpener. The RYA pack and set of books and equipment will be posted on confirmation of booking, cost €115 plus postage. A laptop or desktop computer (Windows, Apple or Chromebook), with a broadband connection suitable for Zoom sessions. You will need to install the Zoom app on your computer with audio and video facilities. Note that using a tablet or phone will not meet the requirements of the course due to limitations of screen size. |

Pre Course | Have completed the RYA Day skipper course or have equivalent level of navigation and a pre course test is submitted. |
Pre Course Advice | Refresh by reading up on Day skipper navigation. Allow 4 hours study and time to complete exercises in advance of the course. |
