You will be licensed to operate a marine VHF, DSC systems, EPRIB and other marine communication systems. You will be entitled to be the named license for a Ships Radio Licence for your boat.

The syllabus covers:

All aspects of radiotelephony voice and DSC (Digital Selective Calling) alerting and marine radio procedures and techniques used in Distress, Urgency, Safety and Routine situations.

Using the VHF radio for routine calls to friends. Staying in contact with the Coastguard. Understanding and operating the DSC Radio, the EPIRB, the SART and NAVTEX.

The Short Range Certificate (SRC) course is accredited by the Irish Department of Transport and is the minimum qualification required for use of VHF radios on boats in coastal or inland waterways.

The SailCork team of presenters are highly qualified and vastly experienced in the use of marine VHF radio.

Licence is posted directly to the student by the Dept of Transport.

Length of Course Part 1 is a recording + pre course work at home. Part 2 + Exam is a full day attendance 09:30-17:30 at a venue.

Equipment Included Course notes. All radio, communications and electrical equipment required for the course. SailCork uses specially designed and modified radio sets for classroom work.
