SailCork’s Eddie English and Peter Scallan run the Yachtmaster Coastal Preparation course onboard our training Yacht “Holy Grounder” from East Ferry, Cobh in Cork Harbour.
The Coastal Skipper Certificate certifies a recreational sailor’s ability to skipper a sailing yacht under sail and auxiliary motor on coastal passages during daylight and at night. This 5 day prep course will prepare you to a more advanced level of boat handling, general seamanship, navigation, safety awareness, IRPCS, meteorology and signals. It is assumed that you will have Navigation to Yachtmaster standard prior to attending.
The course is 4 nights live aboard and maximum numbers onboard is 4 candidates.
The exam is 8-14 hours per 2 candidates and the external Examiner will run the exam on days 6 & 7.
